A professor from Hong Kong gave a lecture at the mathematical seminar of the Russian Scientific Research Center SFedU

4 июня 2026 г.

On June 4, Tuen Wai Ng, Professor at the University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, delivered a lecture as part of a regular scientific seminar at the RSEMC SFedU. The seminar was led by Professors A.N. Karapetyants and V.V. Kravchenko.

Tuen Wai Ng is a Ph.D. professor at the Department of Mathematics at the University of Hong Kong. His research focuses on complex analysis, the theory of functions of a complex variable, complex differential and functional equations, and the geometry of polynomials. His significant contribution is related to the study of meromorphic solutions of differential equations, the theory of finite products of Blaschke, and problems in the analytical theory of functions. The results of his work have received international recognition and have been awarded a number of scientific awards, including the Outstanding Young Researcher Award from the University of Hong Kong.

On June 4, Professor Tuen gave a lecture on the analogue of Stephen Smale's 12th problem for integer functions on centralizers. In 1998, Stephen Smale formulated 18 mathematical problems of the 21st century. The twelfth problem concerns the question of whether a diffeomorphism of a compact manifold can be approximated by a diffeomorphism with a trivial centralizer. In his lecture, Professor Tuen completely solved the analogue of Smale's twelfth problem for integer functions of the complex plane.

The seminar "Seminar on Analysis, Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics" was attended by more than thirty mathematicians - specialists from the world's leading scientific and educational centers in Russia and other countries, including graduate students and students of the SFedU Institute of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Science and young scientists.

Online scientific seminar of the Regional Scientific and Educational Mathematical Center (https://rmc.sfedu.ru /) it is held regularly every two weeks, announcements of new seminars and videos of previous seminars are available on the website http://msrn.sfedu.ru/sl . The seminar features leading researchers from around the world whose research interests are related to analysis, differential equations, and mathematical physics. The scientific seminar of the mathematical center is open, everyone can take part in it.

The language of the seminar is English.
