The premiere of the student play "Pygmalion" in English was successfully held at SFedU

Students of the Department of Primary Education of the Academy of Psychology and Pedagogy of the Southern Federal University organized and conducted a student performance in English based on the famous play by the English playwright Bernard Shaw "Pygmalion".

The content of the play has an interdisciplinary interface with the disciplines studied by students of the specialty "English language": "Theoretical grammar and phonetics", "Fundamentals of the theory of the English language", "Practice of oral and written speech".

The excellent acting abilities of students of the direction "Primary education and a foreign language", excellent English, successful imitation of the features of the London Cockney dialect, costumes and era-appropriate props allowed the audience to be transported into the atmosphere of foggy London, to imagine the life of society of the last century, which, despite the lack of Internet and modern means of communication, was saturated and interesting, because that there was already a science of linguistics that could work wonders by turning poor flower girl Eliza Dullittle, who sold violets on a London street (Olesya Spica, NOIA, 5th year) into a secular lady, thanks to a bet made by Professor of phonetics Henry Higgins (Robert Minnigaliev, NOIA, 3rd year) and Colonel Pickering (Mikhail Serdyukov, NOIA, 4th year). The whole content of the play is permeated by the idea of the importance of linguistics, intercultural communication and the need for successful socio-cultural communication in order for a person to achieve professional goals.

Accoring to the terms of the dispute, Higgins must teach the violet saleswoman good manners in a few months, turning her into an exquisite lady.

The plot of the play emphasizes as the main line the idea that everyone can improve themselves, strive for their dreams and bring them to life.

In the performance, students of 2-5 courses of the Primary Education and foreign Language course Sofia Yuzikeeva, Sofia Rudenko, Marina Lakhadanova, Daria Tereshchenko, Maxim Dorin, Elina Smirnova, Nadezhda Tsukanova (4th year), Klimenty Pavlenko (3rd year), Daniil Lavrov (2nd year) delighted the audience with a magnificent performance. Victoria Drobot (4th year) and Vitalina Makarova (5th year) also took part in the organization of the performance.

The production features dances staged by Evelina Nazaryan, winner of international theater competitions (4th year), famous songs in English from the musical "My Fair Lady" are performed in a magnificent, professional performance by Olesya Spica (5th year), mesmerizing the audience.

The sound engineer of the performance is Egor Shilov, a 3rd-year student of the Rostov State Conservatory named after S. V. Rakhmaninov.

Nikita Kirgizov, a student of the Rostov branch of the S. A. Gerasimov VGIK, organized the video shooting and photo of the event.

The initiator of the production of the play, director and organizer was an associate professor Angela Sergeevna Andrienko.

The event was attended by Vice-rector for Project Activities Maxim Germanovich Bondarev, Head of the Department of Primary Education Veronika Igorevna Pisarenko, teachers and students of the Southern Federal University, representatives of other universities and the Rostov-on-Don Conservatory, VGIK students, school teachers.

The successful event received a positive assessment from the audience and inspired the Department of Primary Education to further implement this creative initiative.
