Research interests:

Tatiana Shkuratova started teaching at SFedU (former Rostov State University) in 1998. She has a Degree of Kandidat Nauk in Linguistics, in the area of linguapoetics. She also holds Certificates in CELTA and TKT. Tatiana Shkuratova has extensive experience as a researcher, teacher and teacher trainer. She is the author of a wide range of educational and research publications, including Course Design as a Factor of Improving the Training of a Teacher-Linguist, Teaching English at a Tertiary Level: Communicative vs Practical?, On Some Approaches to the Analysis of a Poetic Text, From Experience in Political Discourse Analysis: Pragmatic Aspect. As well as publishing both individual and co-authored papers in academic journals and volumes, she regularly develops workbooks in Practical English for university students.

Tatiana’s previous career has included Teacher’s Training Institute, Academy of Structural Engineering, Education Abroad Agency, and English Language Centers, with a focus on language teaching, interpreting and translation, teacher education and curriculum design.

Her current research interests include cultural studies and ELT strategies, considering the impact of learners’ characteristics and motivation, socio-cultural context and language awareness. She also has a keen interest in theory of discourse, expressive stylistics and practical issues of literary translation.
