Research interests:

My principal research and teaching interests lie in the areas of employment law, social insurance and social security.

Teaching:

  • Employment law
Employment law is one of the fastest moving areas in the law today with statutory changes and new cases changing the detail rapidly. Employment law includes legal issues and information on employment benefits relevant to job seekers and employees. It is one of the main branch of Russian law which covers all rights and obligations within the employer-employee relationship. As such, it moderates many aspects of the relationship between employers, employees and their representatives. There are two broad categories of employment law. First, collective employment law relates to tripartite relationship between employee, employer and union. Second, individual employment law concerns employees rights at work and through the contract for work. Because of the complexity of employment relationship and the wide variety of situations that can arise, employment law involves legal issues as diverse as discrimination, wrongful termination, wages and taxation, and workplace safety. The aim of the course is to acquire theoretical and practical knowledges about the nature of employment relationships and other relationships directly connected with them.
  • Social (security) law
Social law (also known as social security law, social protection law or social welfare law) can be considered, both as system of normative regulation and as a legal discipline, one of the most typical examples of law born and bred inside and because of the Welfare States form of political organization. Social security protects individuals from financial distress caused by unforeseen catastrophes. As legal discipline it includes social welfare and social insurance. Unlike social welfare, social insurance benefits are paid to an individual or his or her family at least in part on the basis of that person's employment record and prior contributions to the system.
