By May 8— the International Day of the Red Cross, SFedU is talking about joint projects with the regional office and the participation of students.
Since the signing of the cooperation agreement between Southern Federal University and the Rostov Regional Office of the Russian Red Cross, the University has implemented several practice-oriented and social initiatives with the participation of students and teachers.
Educational work has become one of the key areas. A series of lectures and master classes on socially significant topics were organized for SFedU students. The program included 18 classes, which were attended by more than 900 students. The training included the practice of first aid, the basics of psychological first aid, the development of emotional intelligence and preparation for emergency situations.

Significant attention is paid not only to the theoretical training of students. Students undergo internships at the regional branch of the Russian Red Cross, including with the prospect of working in specialized spaces such as a children's room, where developmental and correctional programs are implemented.
In addition, volunteer activities are actively developing. SFedU students and teachers often participate in field trips to temporary accommodation facilities. In the course of this work, 132 trips took place, in which 114 students participated, along with teachers and staff of the Psychological Service. During the trips, 618 psychological consultations were conducted, as well as educational classes, sports events, holidays and concerts. More than 3,000 people, both adults and children, took part in them.

The project "We are close" became a separate direction. The project has organized 37 events, including 12 sports and 15 master classes. The volunteers made 23 trips to 8 temporary accommodation centers, where they provided psychosocial assistance — they worked with groups and individually. More than 900 people have received assistance, a significant part of them are children. More than 300 individual consultations were also conducted.
SFedU students participate in the organization of humanitarian aid: they collect books and stationery, form and transfer necessary resources to those in need.
It is worth noting separately that on January 23, 2026, a round table "Psychosocial rehabilitation of combat veterans" was held, organized by the Southern Federal University in cooperation with the Rostov Regional branch of the Russian Red Cross. At the event, issues of psychosocial assistance to the participants of the SVO and their families were discussed. The head of the PS, Elena Zinchenko, made a presentation on preventive work with students participating in military operations. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov region, the Rostov regional Branch of the Russian Red Cross, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the Association of Veterans of the Rostov region.

The Psychological Service of the Southern Federal University is actively involved in joint projects with the Russian Red Cross. More than 20 students have already joined them: they work in various formats — from field assistance to participation in educational and social initiatives.
