The Russian School of SFedU will support the implementation of the project of the winner of the competition "Leader of Public Diplomacy" from Tunisia

The country stage of the V International Competition "Leader of Public Diplomacy" has ended in Tunisia. Ele Fehri, a student at the Tunisian Higher Institute of Humanities, was among the three winners.

Russian Language and Culture Week, a project that includes a series of thematic events about Russian culture, was presented to the commission. The educational project "Russian School" of the Institute of Philology, Journalism and Intercultural Communication of the Southern Federal University will act as a partner in the implementation of the initiative.

Russians Language and Culture Week project is a series of thematic days dedicated to Russian culture. The program includes meetings of students to discuss traditions and art, literary readings analyzing the work of Anton Chekhov, short film screenings with tasting of national dishes, theatrical performances with the participation of local ballet schools and folklore groups. Special attention is paid to the popularization of history. As part of the initiative, students visit Anastasia Shirinskaya's House Museum in Bizerte, getting to know the fate of the Russian community in Tunisia.

Russian Language and Culture Week will be implemented as part of the cooperation between the Russian School project of the Institute of Philology, Journalism and Intercultural Communication of the Southern Federal University and the Tunisian Higher Institute of Humanities. Russian School is engaged in the promotion of the Russian language, literature and culture in the countries of the near and far abroad. The project is headed by Margarita Yereshchenko, Head of the Center for Slavic Philology and Culture at the Institute of Philology, Journalism and Intercultural Communication, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor.

"Getting acquainted with the Ele Fahry competition project, the Week of Russian Language and Culture, allowed us to see not just a separate student initiative, but a full—fledged program that lays the foundation for long—term and equal cooperation between our educational institutions," said Anna Dmitrova, Director of the Institute of Philology, Journalism and Intercultural Communication.

Russian teacher at the State Lyceum "Rossiya Street" and the Tunisian Higher Institute of Humanities, Russian Language Inspector at the Tunisian Ministry of Education, President of the Tunisian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature (TAPRYAL), member of the Presidium of MAPRYAL, member of the Pan-African Association APRYAL Randa Zayani acted as the student's supervisor.

"I am sure that joint scientific and methodological initiatives open up broad prospects for sharing experiences and improving the quality of teaching. I am especially pleased to note that our cooperation has already begun and is developing very fruitfully. We highly appreciate the support of our student," said Randa Zayani.

Now Ele is preparing for the next stage of the competition. Among 100 participants from different countries, 30 finalists will be selected to take part in the final stage in Moscow in September 2026.
