On April 3, the Faculty of Law of the Southern Federal University became a center of attraction for young researchers from all over the post-Soviet space. On this day, the annual LIII International Student Scientific and Practical Conference was held, organized jointly with the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov Region and the Rostov Region Bar Association.
The opening ceremony of the conference was marked by a plenary session on the theme: "Justice in law as a traditional value." This deep and relevant topic set the bar high for all subsequent presentations and discussions.
Welcoming words were addressed to the participants:
Dean of the SFedU Faculty of Law Igor Petrovich Zinoviev, who emphasized the importance of student science for the development of the legal system;
Maxim Arsenovich Khyrkhyryan, Vice-President of the Rostov Region Chamber of Advocates, member of the FPA Commission for the Protection of Professional Rights of Lawyers, Chairman of the Commission for the Protection of Professional Rights of Lawyers of the Rostov Region Chamber of Advocates, noted the importance of traditional values in modern law enforcement.

The conference gathered an impressive number of participants: more than 250 students took part in the qualifying round, and about 200 young researchers took part in the face-to-face round. The geography of the conference turned out to be extremely wide and representative: Taganrog, Krasnodar, Stavropol, Voronezh, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Sevastopol, Saratov, Simferopol, Minsk (Republic of Belarus), Yerevan (Republic of Armenia), Tashkent, Lugansk, Makhachkala (Republic of Dagestan).
During the conference, there were 23 thematic sections covering all key areas of legal science. Bachelor's and specialist's students discussed legal policy in the context of the crisis of legal understanding, digitalization of lawmaking, public finance, environmental protection, international law, current issues of private law, civil turnover, civil procedure, business law, labor and social security, criminal law and criminology, criminal justice, criminology and even professional communication in English.
The undergraduates worked in six sections devoted to efficiency and security in financial law, national constitutionalism, modern challenges of private law, legal proceedings in economic disputes, criminal law and process.
Each presentation was accompanied by a lively discussion (3 minutes), which created an atmosphere of real scientific discussion. The expert jury, which included leading teachers, practicing lawyers, lawyers, judges and representatives of government agencies, noted the high level of preparation of the reports and their practical significance.
The student scientific and practical conference was bright, interesting and incredibly productive. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the participants for their bold ideas, informative presentations and sharp discussions.
We are confident that the LIII Conference has become a bright event in the development of legal science and the strengthening of international academic cooperation.
