On March 15, an agreement was signed on the opening of the "Russian Language and Cultural and Educational Center" by the Southern Federal University and the Wanquan Senior Secondary School of Yucheng County with the participation of the Center for Eurasian Humanitarian Cooperation "One Way" LLC.
The parties agreed to establish a "Russian language and cultural and educational center" on the basis of a Chinese school. The Center will help create conditions for the implementation of projects to improve the quality of education, increase the effectiveness of academic activities and the implementation of joint educational projects. The center also aims to promote the Russian language and culture in China.
As the Rector of SFedU Inna Shevchenko noted, international cooperation between schools and universities is an important tradition in the development of education systems in the two countries. Inna Konstantinovna also thanked the staff of the Wanquan School and its director Du Zhihe for the opportunity to cooperate in the field of education and culture development.
In turn, the director of the Senior Secondary School Wanquan Du Zhihe thanked the rector of the Southern Federal University Inna Shevchenko for supporting the cooperation initiative.
"Wanquan School is located in the political, economic, cultural and educational center of Yucheng County. In recent years, we have been paying special attention to the development of international cooperation and the expansion of opportunities for our students to receive higher education. In 2023, we opened a Russian language learning group, and now more than 160 schoolchildren study there. Russia and China are good partners in the fields of economy, culture and education. The successful cooperation of our school with the Southern Federal University will be a good gift for the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and China," said Du Zhihe, director of the Wanquan Senior Secondary School.
The agreement was signed with the support of the One Way Center for Eurasian Humanitarian Cooperation." Zhang Jingwei, Chairman of the center and a trusted representative of the SFedU for Interaction with Chinese Organizations, expressed confidence that such interaction would provide an opportunity for school students to get acquainted with the culture, language and traditions of Russia, as well as become students of the Southern Federal University in the future.
During the event, Natalia Karpovskaya, the Plenipotentiary representative of the Rector of SFedU, Director of the International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies of SFedU, addressed her colleagues from China with a welcoming speech.
"I hope that together we will be able to implement such educational projects that will greatly benefit not only the Southern Federal University and the Wanquan School, but also our countries. The culture, language and history of our States are an important link in our interaction. Therefore, we have already opened programs at the SFedU — both at the bachelor's and master's levels — that are related to the study of the Chinese language and culture. I am sure that our joint project has a great future and success. In addition, I hope that we will be able to carry out many other projects in different directions in the future," Natalia Karpovskaya stressed.
The event was also attended by Irina Savchenkova, Head of the Department of Russian Language and General Education of the Southern Federal University, who also welcomed the staff and the director of the Wanquan School and expressed hope for fruitful cooperation.
