SFedU together with Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences organized the First scientific forum in Moscow for the Day of the Turkologist and Osmanist

On May 25, the Center for Interdisciplinary Humanitarian Studies in partnership with the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences held the first scientific forum "Turkology and Osmanistics: People, Ideas, prospects" dedicated to the Day of the Turkologist and Osmanist.

The forum program for the first time brought together leading Russian experts in the field of Turkish studies representing the schools of Turkology and Ottoman studies of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sevastopol, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don (IB RAS, IMEMO RAS, INION RAS, SFU, St. Petersburg State University, SevSU, the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, KFU, UNN, etc.).

The Forum was opened with a welcoming speech by Alexey Kuznetsov, Director of the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Avatkov, Head of the Department of the Near and Post-Soviet East of the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Veronika Tsybenko, Director of the SFedU Center for Interdisciplinary Humanitarian Studies, who spoke about her initiative to introduce the Day of the Turkologist and Osmanist in 2022 and the significance of this holiday for the preservation and development of the professional community.

In addition to the expert panel, the forum included a youth section, where scientific schools were represented by young specialists recommended by their mentors. Among them are students of the master's program of the SFedU "Turkey and the Caucasian macroregion: socio-political and ethno-confessional processes" - Vagik Petrosyants and Yana Murashova.

Current research in Turkey.

In addition to the expert discussion of modern Turkey and its history, many warm memories of teachers and reflections on the continuity of not only generations, but also scientific schools were heard at the forum site.
