From January 13 to 15, the first conference in the Rostov region for animators and those who want to create cartoons is being held at the sites of the SFedU. Lectures and master classes are conducted by the team of creators of the animated series "Neurons".
To talk about animation, share knowledge and create a powerful animation movement in the Rostov region — such goals are set by the organizers — the Animation studio "ChildGood animation", the creators of the developing animated series for children "Neurons". The producer of the cartoon Anastasia Atamanenko noted that about 250 people take part in the conference.
"We are creating our own unique animated series "Neurons". When we were recruiting a team, we realized that there are few specialists in the field of animation in Rostov-on-Don. We believe that this is a very promising direction and we want to develop. The conference will bring together people interested in creating cartoons. We have several categories of participants - students, young specialists from different universities of the city, psychologists, teachers, parents and, of course, children from 4-10 years old. We have a lecture "Animation Pedagogy", where we will tell you how you can educate and teach children with the help of cartoons," shared Anastasia Atamanenko, the project's line producer and conference organizer.
Over three days, 15 professional speakers will speak to the participants of the conference — beginning artists, modellers, directors and animators, as well as anyone interested in how cartoons are created. For example, on the first day of the conference, one of the events was a master class "Unknown Hero" from the main artist of the project and illustrator Kirill Bykov. Everyone present created potential cartoon characters on paper in real time. The speaker revealed several secrets of creating a cartoon character: for example, to show that a cartoon is a child, you need to place the eye line in the lower half of the face, and in an elderly character, on the contrary, as high as possible. The audience also attended lectures on voice acting, animation, sound design and many other interesting topics in the field of animation.
The second day of the conference began with a lecture by the director and screenwriter of the animated series "Neurons" Anna Shvets "There is an idea. What's next? How to turn a logline into a real cartoon." Anna tried to touch on the production side of the creative process of turning an original idea into a working strong script.
"There are many talented people in Rostov-on-Don who are doing essentially the same thing as our team: these are artists and 3D modelers, screenwriters and writers, people working with video content and motion design, but they are quite scattered, and to create such a large-scale project as a cartoon, you need to become a single community. We would like to show that the animation industry lives and develops in Rostov. Some of our speakers have worked on projects such as Smeshariki or Finik, and during the work on Neurons we have gained such a tremendous experience that we want to share," said Anna Shvets.
On January 15, the closing day of the conference, a pre—premiere screening of several minimultics of the Neurons project will take place in the Main Building of the SFedU, and then the work of the Animation Pedagogy section will be held for adult participants of the conference, and a group game with teachers "Neurogames: there is no limit to abilities!" will be held for children.
