As part of the Russian Science Day, the Southern Federal University hosted a round table with the participation of the Governor of the Rostov Region, Vasily Golubev, "Portrait of a young researcher at a Modern University", dedicated to the Year of Science and Technology in the Russian Federation.

The Governor Vasily Golubev met with young scientists of the Institute and to discuss trends in the development of science, as well as programmes to support young researchers.

During his speech, the Governor noted that science is the main driving force of the socio-economic development of society.

"For the government of the Rostov Region, it is very important to support universities and research institutes, to develop a competitive sector of scientific research, and to create conditions for young researchers. Today, we are working together with our scientists and industrialists to modernize the program of the world-class Southern Scientific and Educational Center. This year-the Year of Science and Technology-is a time for popularizing scientific activities. We have planned hundreds of different events, events of regional, national and international level. I am convinced that this will give an incentive for a practical exchange of experience. And one of the most popular sites is the Southern Federal University. For 105 years, the SFedU has been a forge of highly professional personnel for the Rostov region and the whole of Russia. SFedU is confidently included in the international and Russian ratings for a wide range of areas. And among Russian universities, it is the leader in the use of global Megasiens installations, where supercomputer modeling technologies are being developed, etc. Thanks to these developments, life changes, and science fiction becomes a reality, " said Vasily Golubev.

The round table was attended by the rector of SFedU Inna Shevchenko, Vice President for planning innovative activities and international cooperation SFedU Eugene Mukhanov, Director of the Smart Materials Research Institute of SFedU Alexander Soldatov, head of the Department of Soil Science and land resources assessment SFedU Tatiana Minkina, winner of all-Russian competition "Teacher of the year 2020" Mikhail Gurov, winners of the competitions for the scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation and the government of the Russian Federation 2019-2020, as well as the winners of the competitions for grants of the President of the Russian Federation.

We have concluded the discussion on the urgency of contracts for young scientists, and are actively working with the financial ecosystem of the region to attract additional resources for consolidation. This allowed us to join the program of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation for the employment of young researchers.
