Tatyana Pavlovna Shestakova is Doctor of Sciences in Physics and Mathematics, Professor of the Department of Theoretical and Computational Physics.

Research interests:

General Relativity and Cosmology, Quantun Field Theory and Quantum Gravity

The main topic of research is construction of a mathematically consistent quantum theory of gravity. The investigations in this trend were started in the works made in collaboration with G. M. Vereshkov and V. A. Savchenko in the end of 1990s. In these works an original approach to constructing quantum theory of gravity was proposed. The approach was called "quantum geometrodynamics in extended phase space".  As a result of scientific discussions at a number of international conferences, the approach has been recognized by gravitational community.

Research activity:

In October - December 2003 T. P. Shestakova worked at Institute for Gravitation and Cosmology of Peoples Friendship University of Russia.

In 2005 T. P. Shestakova received a grant of V. Potanin charitable fund as a winner of young university teachers' competition which had been held in the best Russian universities.

In July 2008 T. P. Shestakova visited International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics (ICRA), Pescara, Italy.

In 2015 T. P. Shestakova received a joint grant of Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for scientific research as a Visiting Scholar in Gravitation and Relativity group at the Institute for Theoretical Physics, the University of Cologne, Germany, in September - December 2015.

In October 2016 T. P. Shestakova was a Visiting Fellow in the Geneva Center of the project "Space and Time after Quantum Gravity". During her visit to the University of Geneva, T. P. Shestakova gave a talk "Could the Copenhagen interpretation be useful for our understanding of Quantum Cosmology?". In October 2016 T. P. Shestakova also visited the CERN Theoretical Physics Division.
