A clean-up day "Blooming Garden" was held in the SFedU Botanical Garden: hundreds of participants put things in order

25 апреля 2026 г.

On April 25, a traditional clean-up day "Blooming Garden" took place in the Botanical Garden of the Southern Federal University.

Hundreds of students, university staff, volunteers and eco-activists have teamed up to make this favorite vacation spot for residents of Rostov and guests of the city even neater and more comfortable.

The event was attended by all structural divisions of the SFedU, including representatives of the Taganrog campus, as well as lyceum students and students of the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center of Southern Federal District.

The entire territory of the Garden was divided into 33 sites, and representatives of SFedU departments or eco-volunteers worked on each of them. A lot of work has been done during the day to collect household garbage and dry tree remains.

Vladimir Kalinin, a 1st-year student at the Kapitany Faculty of Business at SFedU, noted:

"We are clearing the area of dry branches and broken glass, removing everything that prevents the growth of young plants. I really like visiting the Botanical Garden, it's a wonderful place. But, as they say, if you like to ride, you also like to carry sleds: first we will put things in order so that we can return here with a clear conscience for a rest and a picnic."

Sergey Kharakhashyan, head of the Center for Agrarian Leadership "Youth Village of Don", also shared his opinion:

"Using the gifts of nature, we take responsibility to repay her debts, and not leave a trail of garbage. Today, together we have cleared the Botanical Garden of dead wood and household waste in order to preserve this unique place for future generations.

Our campaign has united not only Rostov, but also many other corners of the region. Our center came in full force and invited graduates of the programs — those who sincerely support the development of rural areas. Inspiring scale: Participants from various regions of the country joined the clean-up, responding to our call in their towns and villages. Our common task is to involve young people in caring for their native land, because it is from such small deeds that the prosperity of the whole country is born."

According to employees of the SFedU Botanic Garden, in recent years there has been a good trend towards reducing the amount of garbage in the SFedU Botanical Garden, so the collection of solid household waste turned out to be less than last year.

Samuel, a preparatory student from Nigeria, shared his impressions:

"The atmosphere here is amazing — there are many kind, open-minded people with whom it is a pleasure to work together. I am especially pleased that today we were able to make our contribution and make the SFedU Botanical Garden cleaner and more beautiful. Such moments unite and leave truly warm impressions."

The clean-up day program took almost the entire day. After the labor landing, the participants had a rest in the clearing: hot porridge from the field kitchen, sports games, quizzes, contests, events of the festival of ecology and creativity, as well as the festival of student families.
