From Betrayal to treasure: The Faculty of Management and the "Count of Monte Cristo"

11 марта 2026 г.

On March 9, the first "Student Spring" of the season started in the Regional House of Folk Art of Rostov-on-Don. The festival was opened by students of the SFedU Faculty of Management, who presented a production based on the famous novel "The Count of Monte Cristo" by writer Alexandre Dumas.

The students were inspired by the story of Edmond Dantes, the main character of the novel. On the eve of his own wedding, his life changes because of the betrayal of a loved one. Having lost his freedom, the hero finds himself in the prison of If Castle, where he spends many years alone.

The turning point in the hero's life is a meeting with Abbot Faria, a wise prisoner who becomes his mentor and friend. It is he who helps Dantes to keep faith in himself, teaches him the sciences and reveals the secret of the treasures hidden on the island of Monte Cristo. This knowledge gives the hero a chance to start a new life and restore justice.

After being released from prison, Dantes returns to the world in a new image — the mysterious and powerful Count of Monte Cristo. The transformation of the hero was shown on stage: from a naive young man, he becomes a confident man. The atmosphere of France in the 19th century was conveyed by costumes and musical accompaniment. Acting and dancing routines became the main elements of the production.

In the finale, Dantes addressed the audience with the words: "All human wisdom is contained in two simple words: wait and hope."
