Academy of Engineering and Technology SFedU has a class of hydroacoustic equipment simulators, which allows not only to visit models of real-life ports of our country, but also to perform unique studies.
The Department of Electrohydroacoustic and Medical Equipment of Institute of Nanotechnologies, Electronics and Equipment Engineering SFedU is considered one of the founders of nonlinear acoustics in the country. Competent specialists have been conducting research here for about 50 years.
In 1981, the "Imitation-natural hydroacoustic complex" appeared at the department. It includes two hydroacoustic anechoic pools, a class of hydroacoustic equipment simulators, a complex for monitoring the seismoacoustic situation in the near-surface and deep layers in the sea, and an automated installation for measuring the parameters of piezoelectric transducers.
The grant won by the department in the 2000s made it possible to equip an entire room with a unique scientific installation (USI) - hydroacoustic equipment simulators that completely recreates the naval cockpit. Here, students conduct laboratory work on modeling real marine conditions.
The USI software allows students to "visit" several real ports, including the ports of Yeysk and Temryuk, recreated from video footage made especially for the installation. There is also a real digital map of the Taganrog Bay with all the necessary navigation signs. The existing functionality makes it possible to adjust climatic conditions: you can add sea waves, wind, precipitation (rain, snow).
Visually it is divided into two hemispheres. The upper one displays the surrounding area, including fishing vessels. At the bottom - underwater flora and fauna.
In the complex, in addition to the ship's controls, there is an imitation of a radar, electronic binoculars, an all-round sonar and a fishing gear control system. Thus, the USI helps to simulate the descent of a trawl to different depths, track the capture of a shoal of fish, and evaluate the fish accumulation.
SFedU trains specialists involved in the development, creation and operation of hydroacoustic equipment. Due to weather conditions, it is not always possible to perform laboratory work at sea, however, USI allows students to make all the necessary measurements without leaving the building.
USI covers a wide range of real tasks performed in the framework of laboratory work. Students of the directions "Instrument making", "Ship weapons", "Application and operation of technical systems of surface ships and submarines" conduct experiments in such areas as acoustic measurements, hydroacoustic equipment, optoacoustics, the use of nanocomposite materials in acoustic antennas, environmental monitoring, search and mineral exploration, bioacoustics.
The research of SFedU students forms the basis of their final qualifying works and is embodied in grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Innovation Promotion Foundation.
