On May 14-15, 2021, the Institute of Philosophy and Socio-Political Sciences hosted the conference "Humanities in the Age of High Technologies".
The conference is organized by the Department of History of Foreign and Domestic Philosophy (Head of the Department Marina Didyk) with the participation of the Department of Theory and History of State and Law of the Faculty of Law, the Department of Philosophy of the Russian State University named after A. N. Kosygin (Technologies. Design. Art), the Department of Civil Law of the Far Eastern Federal University and the Research and Educational Center "Socio-Cultural and Intellectual Technologies" of the Belgorod State Institute of Arts and Culture.
The conference was held within the framework of the events dedicated to the "Year of Science and Technology", and set the task of understanding, on the one hand, the socio-cultural consequences of rapid technological changes that have swept the world, on the other – the role of humanitarian knowledge in preserving the humanistic cultural landmarks that can not be lost, carried away by digitalization and robotics.
The geography of the conference participants is extensive. Both Rostov scientists and scientists from Bochum, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ivanovo, Nizhny Novgorod, Grozny, Vladivostok, Belgorod, Krasnodar, and Sochi presented their ideas.
Reports and discussions were held in an online format, which did not prevent an interesting, fruitful and interdisciplinary conversation about various aspects of the complex processes that affect people's consciousness and behavior. Despite the differences on certain issues, the participants of the conference were unanimous in their determination to actively support the humanities and, in particular, philosophy, in the formation and education of inquisitive, creative, patriotic youth.
