The SFedU initiated the creation of the All-Russian community of specialists in microfluidic technologies

20 ноября 2025 г.

The second International Conference "Smart Microfluidics 2025", a unique platform for cooperation between science and industry in solving issues of advanced microfluidic technologies, has come to an end at Southern Federal University. The creation of a professional community of specialists in this field was launched on the basis of the SFedU Center for High-Tech Instrument Engineering.

An important distinguishing feature of the conference, which attracted delegations from major corporations and scientific organizations, was its comprehensive format. In addition to scientific reports, the program included practical workshops on 3D printing of microfluidic devices and microfluidic synthesis, as well as a large-scale exhibition section.

The stands of the leading development companies were presented at the exhibition: PanEco, RapidBio, LABADVANCE, FLIXBIO LLC, Microfluidica LLC. This allowed the participants not only to exchange knowledge, but also to get acquainted with modern equipment on the spot and identify ways for future cooperation with SFedU scientists.

According to the chairman of the conference program committee, Professor Alexander Soldatov, the community will be formed on the basis of a specialized microfluidics portal. The creation of a single portal meets the goals of the national project "New Materials and Chemistry", launched in 2025.

In addition, SFedU is ready to become an integrator for the development of an interdisciplinary online educational program for training personnel in this field.

The Smart Microfluidics 2025 conference was attended by representatives of leading educational, scientific organizations and the industrial sector, including SIBUR-Innovations LLC, GC Titan, SIC Kurchatov Institute, ITMO University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, as well as foreign organizations, such as the Institute of Chemical Technology (Mumbai, India) and Amar Equipment Pvt. Ltd.

During the event, the participants got acquainted with more than 48 scientific reports in three sections:

∙ design and manufacture of microfluidic systems;

∙ modeling of processes in microfluidic devices and practical application of microfluidic technologies in chemistry;

∙ case studies: practical application of microfluidic systems.

Microfluidics is the science and technology of controlling small volumes of liquids in microchannels. Such systems make it possible to create miniature "laboratories on a chip" for ultrafast chemical analysis, new drug development, high-precision medical diagnostics, and solving problems in the food and chemical industries.

The Southern Federal University, being a participant of the strategic academic leadership program "Priority 2030" (national project "Youth and Children"), concentrates efforts on solving the problems of scientific, technological and humanitarian security of the country. As part of this work, the university creates full-cycle production and technological chains based on the network architecture of interaction to respond to "big challenges". The key areas of development cover a number of critical and end—to-end technologies, including technologies for accelerated development and transfer of strategically important materials.

In this area, SFedU is implementing the strategic technology project "Technologies for Accelerated Development and Transfer of Strategically important Materials to Micro- and low-tonnage Production," in which researchers from the SFedU International Research Institute for Intelligent Materials are actively involved.
