The event's rich program included Russian folk games, a sports relay race, a coffee break, songs in different languages, dances, and the quiz "What? Where? When?"
The event is held for the second year in a row in order to increase the level of adaptation to the student environment among foreign students, as well as to overcome communication and language barriers.
"One of the important tasks in large universities is the adaptation of foreign students. Such events allow students to significantly increase their social circle in just one day, make useful acquaintances with active organizers who will be happy to talk about their experience in educational and scientific activities, and invite them to further events.
We are confident that trusting and respectful relationships between students, their active life position will be able to increase the motivational component within the educational process, arouse curiosity, interest, and a desire to try something new," said Ekaterina Sevastyanova, responsible for the implementation of youth and public programs at SFedU Institute of Radio Engineering Systems and Control.
The participants of the trip were students from Egypt, Colombia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Cuba, the Central African Republic, Palestine and Russia. The foreign students were accompanied by interpreters, volunteers, sports organizers, and photographers.
The eventful program of the International Dating Day included Russian folk games, a sports relay race, a coffee break, a conversational game, songs in different languages, dancing, and the quiz "What? Where? When?" The event on the seashore ended with the awarding of the winners. The teams received prizes in the form of branded attributes of the Institute of Radio Engineering Systems and Control of the Southern Federal University.
"I really liked the atmosphere of the event! Most of all, I was impressed by the diversity of cultures, each participant brought something unique. I managed to make some new friends. I especially remember conversations with guys from different countries who shared their stories of adapting to life in Russia and studying at SFedU. Communication with them showed that, despite different cultural and linguistic barriers, we share similar goals and aspirations.
Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and actively participate in university life. SFU offers many opportunities for development, not only in terms of studies, but also in the cultural and social spheres," said Ahmed Elsherbini, a graduate student at the SFedU Institute of Radio Engineering Systems and Control.
International Dating Day is an event that allows you to make a lot of new acquaintances in just a few hours, language practice for translators, an international and friendly atmosphere. The event is traditionally implemented at the SKIF recreation center of the NSC of Modeling and Control Systems, which is located 50 km from Taganrog.
"It's wonderful when people from different cultures meet in one place. This allows you to effectively develop communication skills. I had the opportunity to practice English and Arabic. I was impressed that the organizers came up with so many exciting contests and games. I would like to advise our international students not to hesitate to attend such events, as it is not only useful, but also a great opportunity to have a good time," said Raya Alsheikh, a 2nd year student at SFedU Institute of Management in Economic, Ecological and Social Systems.
