On September 16-20, 2024, employees of the Southern Federal University took part in the VIII conference of young scientists with international participation "Soil Science: Horizons of the Future. 2024" at the V.V. Dokuchaev Soil Institute, Moscow.
The organizers of the conference set really ambitious goals: to present leading research in the field of soil science, establish interdisciplinary ties and strengthen existing contacts among leading and young scientists. The conference was held in a face-to-face and remote format and included invited, oral and poster presentations, lectures and master classes. The conference of young scientists addressed a wide range of issues: degradation and restoration of soil cover, management in science and information technology in soil science, as well as the popularization of knowledge about soils.
Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources Assessment Tatyana Minkina, made a presentation: Soil Science at the Southern Federal University: expanding the horizons of science of the Southern Federal University. It should be noted that Tatyana Mikhailovna was the curator of the section - MANAGEMENT IN NATURAL SCIENCES.
Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor, Head of the scientific research laboratory "Intelligent agroecosystems" Svetlana Sushkova, made a plenary report on the topic: "Biorestarvation of soils of technogenic territories". The results presented in the report were performed at the Soil Health Laboratory of the Southern Federal University with the financial support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Agreement No. 075-15-2022-1122, No. 075-15-2023-587, as well as the Strategic Academic Leadership Program of the Southern Federal University ("Priority 2030").

The results presented in the report by Dudnikova T.S. were obtained with the support of the RNF grant No. 20-14-00317 at the Southern Federal University.
M.Sc., REC "Ecology and Nature Management", Valeria Vilkova, made a report on the topic: "Assessment of the enzymatic activity of soils of post-pyrogenic successions in the territory of the Western Caucasus" within the framework of the state assignment of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation in the field of scientific activity No. FENW-2023-0008.
The masters of the 2nd year of study, Anastasia Nemtseva and Evgeny Shuvaev, made poster presentations. Anastasia Alexandrovna, spoke about "The influence of soil properties on the accumulation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in the soils of the former sludge collector," and Evgeny Grigorievich about "The accumulation of PAHs in soils under the influence of emissions from coal mining enterprises." The research was carried out in the laboratory "Soil Health" of the Southern Federal University with the financial support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Agreement No. 075-15-2022-1122, No. 075-15-2023-587, the Program of Strategic Academic Leadership of the Southern Federal University ("Priority 2030").
