In the first decade of June, a fashion show of the spring-summer season Don Fashion Week was held in Rostov-on-Don.

Fashion Week was held at the Donexpocenter exhibition site, not only famous fashion designers presented their collections, but also designers who were beginning to conquer the fashion peaks of the catwalk — students of the Design Department of the Academy of Architecture and Arts of the Southern Federal University: Daria Zueva, Ksenia Zatagina, Milena Chkhebelia — 2nd year undergraduate students, Natalia Pashchenko and Ekaterina Skichko — 1st year students master's degree course.

According to Maria Cherkasova, senior lecturer at the SFedU Design Department, the Don Fashion Week fashion show is taking place for the ninth time, and students of the Academy of Architecture and Arts traditionally take part in it, presenting their term papers and final qualifying works.

The teacher especially noted the work of the students who participated in the show for the first time, the young designers were inspired by the decorative and applied arts and culture of Afghanistan in the pre-Islamic period. In their works, the students used various fabrics and colors that reflected the combination of the aesthetics of modern fashion and their chosen main theme.

"There is a lot of denim in our collection, which is still very relevant on the catwalks. The prints that my colleagues used, the red color, transparency (we have a translucent fabric) also helped to convey the special atmosphere of the collection, which we named after the city of Kandahar," Daria Zueva shared.

Ksenia Zatagina transformed the traditional costume into a modern bow, using the A-line silhouette and wide sleeves typical of the Afghan costume. The work is made of knitted knitwear, cotton and denim. Milena Chkhebelia also brought the bright colors of the Afghan costume to her work.

The Tutti Frutti collection of teenage clothing, authored by Ekaterina Skichko, consists of sets made on the basis of combinations of aesthetics of such subcultural movements as harajuku and punk, stylistic solution of uniforms of educational institutions, bringing elements of upcycling to the collection. Ekaterina presented her collection as a bachelor's thesis last year.

The idea of the Biscuit collection, authored by Natalia Pashchenko, is to convey the versatility of female beauty, in which tenderness and grace stand on a par with spontaneity and playfulness. The nuanced color relationships allow the collection to focus on voluminous shapes and delicate textures. Natalia also defended her work as a bachelor's degree graduation.
