3 октября 2025 г.

On September 27, the first Festival of Architecture and Arts "Garden City. Architecture" on the territory of Maxim Gorky Central Park in Rostov-on-Don.

The initiators of this Festival were Yulia Petrusenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Fundamentals of Architectural and Artistic Design at the SFedU Academy of Architecture and Arts, and Marina Balberova, Director of the Gorky City Cultural and Leisure Center, in continuation of the creative collaboration between the Academy and Central Park. The city event was timed to celebrate two important dates for each side: the 110th anniversary of Southern Federal University and the 212th anniversary of Gorky Park.

During the Festival, the park's space turned into an open creative laboratory, combining academic education, contemporary art and environmental thinking. Open-air exhibitions, various interactive workshops for all ages against the backdrop of the picturesque nature of the park, and of course, live music and performances by creative teams were prepared for the citizens and guests of our city.

For the first time, an exhibition of creative works and models by students of the Beloved City Academy, as well as an exhibition of decorative and applied arts, was presented in the park environment. The guests of the Festival were able to try themselves as architects, designers and artists. Work was underway in real time to create two symbolic art objects: the "Symbol of Life and Knowledge" - a stylized tree decorated with houses and birdhouses made at master classes. The second object, "Our House," symbolized a metaphorical comparison of the natural environment and architecture.

The intensive program of this city event was implemented by the faculty and students of the SFedU Academy of Architecture and Arts, including the departments of Fundamentals of Architectural and Artistic Design (Head of the Department. Kartasheva L.V.), History of Architecture, Art and Architectural restoration (Head of the Department. Ivanova-Ilyicheva A.M.), Engineering and Construction disciplines (Head of the Department. Lebedinskaya A.R.), Decorative and Applied Arts (Prof. Mokina A.Yu.), as well as the Children's Architectural and Art School (at the hands of the RC AHDP Tereshchenko N.A.).

The atmosphere of the Festival of Architecture and Arts "Gorod. Sad. Architecture" did not leave any of the guests indifferent, here each participant was able to find exciting activities to their liking and plunge into the atmosphere of creativity.

The citizens viewed with great interest the exposition of the exhibition – architectural projects and models on the theme "Beloved City", decorative and applied arts, as well as creative works by students of the DAAS Academy.

A series of master classes were held in a lively and informative manner, in which both the younger and the older generation were able to participate.: "Feel like a restorer" by casting plaster decorative elements and painting them, "Roll a little" in the technique of felting, "Architectural collage. Eco-city of dreams", etude sketches "Urban Garden" from teachers of DAAS and undergraduates of pedagogical education, etc.

Vadim Rabaev, Deputy Director of the Gorky City Cultural and Leisure Center, Natalia Chemerisova, Director of the Academy of Architecture and Arts, and Yulia Petrusenko, head of the festival, Associate Professor of the Department of Fundamentals of Architectural and Artistic Design, delivered a welcoming address at the opening ceremony.

The administration and staff of the Academy of Architecture and Arts would like to thank Marina Balberova, director and the entire staff of the Gorky City Cultural and Leisure Center, for their trust and assistance in organizing this Festival.

We hope that the project will become not only an annual event in the future, but also a good tradition and a significant event in the city of Rostov-on-Don!
