A scientist from Italy gave a lecture at the SFedU mathematical seminar

04.04.2025

On April 3, a lecture by Luigi Rodino, Professor at the University of Turin, Italy, was held as part of the regular scientific seminar of the Russian National Research Center of the Southern Federal University. The seminar was led by Professors Alexey Karapetyants and Vladislav Kravchenko.

Luigi Rodino is an Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Turin, Italy, a member of the editorial boards of many scientific publishing houses, and a member of the Turin Academy of Sciences. Professor Rodino is the author of more than 150 scientific publications, including 6 books. His research interests include frequency analysis, Wigner analysis, Schrodinger equations, harmonic and inharmonic analysis, and others.

On April 3, Professor Rodino gave a lecture on Wigner operator kernels at the SFedU RSEMC seminar. In this report, he applied the fundamental concepts of Wigner analysis and presented a new scheme for dealing with "ghost" frequencies (the so-called frequencies that are present in the Fourier spectrum but are actually absent in the time domain) using combined Gaussian and Sobolev regularization methods.

Closed-form solutions were presented. Using the spectral parameter power series method, a practical construction of the image of the shift operator on a dense set was obtained.

The seminar "Seminar on Analysis, Differential Equations and Mathematical Physics" was attended by more than forty mathematicians - specialists from the world's leading scientific and educational centers in Russia and other countries, including graduate students and students of the SFedU Institute of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Science and young scientists.

Online scientific seminar of the Regional Scientific and Educational Mathematical Center (https://rmc.sfedu.ru /) it is held regularly every two weeks, announcements of new seminars and videos of previous seminars are available on the website http://msrn.sfedu.ru/sl . The seminar features leading researchers from around the world whose research interests are related to analysis, differential equations, and mathematical physics. The scientific seminar of the mathematical center is open, everyone can take part in it.
