The All-Russian action on cleaning the shores of water bodies from garbage "Water of Russia" is part of the federal project "Preservation of unique water bodies" of the national project "Ecology". "Water of Russia" is being held for the tenth time, and the Rostov region became the first region where it was held.

The purpose of the campaign is to popularize environmental issues and clean the shores of water bodies from various types of waste. 90 students of the SFedU structural divisions of Rostov-on-Don and Taganrog took part in the action "Water of Russia".

The event was attended by distinguished guests, including First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Andrey Yatskin, Head of the Federal Agency for Water Resources Dmitry Kirillov, Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation Pavel Baryshev.

The Governor of the Rostov region Vasily Golubev noted that the Don River has always been an important object for the Rostov region and expressed his gratitude to Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko for supporting the idea of preserving the ecological integrity of the Don River and other water bodies of the country. Vasily Yurievich also announced the annual celebration of the Don River Day, every Saturday after Victory Day.

At the grand opening of the action, environmental activists of the region were awarded, among them Dmitry Lapygin, the head of the Environmental Association of the Southern Federal University, the head of the regional branch of the NGO of environmental volunteers "Do!".

"As part of the action "Water of Russia", the Governor of the Rostov region Vasily Golubev and the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Andrey Yatskin awarded outstanding eco-activists of the region. I was among them. I received the award as the head of the regional branch of the All-Russian public organization of environmental volunteers "Do!". I have been holding a position in this organization for more than six months. During this time, we have held a large number of events. Among them are the collection of waste paper for orphanages, subbotniks and eco-lectures. All this would not have been possible without a friendly team and extensive work experience of our participants, many of whom came from the Environmental Association of the Southern Federal University," Dmitry Lapygin shared.

Volunteers, eco-activists, students and representatives of public organizations took part in cleaning the banks of the Don River. During the clean-up, participants had to immediately distribute waste into various types: plastic, iron, household waste, etc.

After the shock work, the participants were able to visit the field kitchen, as well as various workshops on separate waste collection. At the end of the event, a concert was held, as well as a lottery, according to the results of which it was possible to win a trip to Moscow for Volunteer Day.
