                                                           Purpose of this educational program:

Training of highly qualified specialists, research scientists and practitioners who will be able to work in healthcare institutions, research institutes, engage in private practice, etc.

The relevance of clinical psychologists is beyond doubt due to the statistics of the spread of anxiety-depressive disorders, somatic and mental diseases, suicidal tendencies in modern society. At the same time, there are not enough specialists in Russia and the world who provide psychological support to different groups of patients, their relatives, as well as medical personnel at different stages of the treatment process.

  • Students will get acquainted with the fundamental and applied aspects of modern clinical psychology, psychotherapy and neuroscience, learn how to work with modern scientific equipment on the basis of the South Regional Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Education.
  • Students will gain experience in planning and conducting scientific research, as well as in processing and interpreting the results obtained, in writing scientific theses and articles, in speeches at scientific and practical conferences.
  • Students will get acquainted with all types of practical activities of a clinical psychologist, including modern non-drug psychotherapeutic directions, and will also gain experience of supervision in various psychotherapeutic approaches, including experience of group supervision in centers of practical psychology that are partners of the program.

Prospects. Career & Employment

Graduates can continue their postgraduate studies, doing research in the field of clinical psychology and psychophysiology. Neuroscientists (including psychophysiologists) Leading universities in Russia and abroad are actively invited as postdocs, their research activities are significantly supported by funding from the Russian Science Foundation.

Another promising way to develop and realize the professional potential of graduates of the program is their implementation of the practical activities of a clinical psychologist (psychohygiena, psychoprophylaxis, diagnosis, examination, correction, rehabilitation, non-drug psychotherapy) in public and private institutions.

Psychologists who provide clinical or counseling services are trained in a range of techniques and theoretical approaches, making hospitals, schools, counseling centers, group or private health care practices and hospital systems all good places to launch a career. Some psychologists working in clinical practice choose to specialize in treating those with chronic illnesses such as obesity or diabetes; others specialize in treating people with specific psychological disorders, such as anxiety, schizophrenia or depression. Others work with school children who have learning disabilities or in college counseling centers to promote wellness and academic success.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
