4 июня 2026 г.

On June 2, Sabina Kerimova, Associate Professor of the SFedU Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies, delivered a speech at the Second Ionin Readings. The report was dedicated to the scientific expedition of the outstanding Soviet geneticist Nikolai Ivanovich Vavilov to Argentina.

The presentation on the topic "Nikolái Ivánovich Vavílov en Argentina: la expedición científica de 1932-1933" highlighted the main results of the scientist's trip, during which he collected a unique collection of seeds and plant samples, as well as studied the experience of Argentine colleagues in the field of wheat and oat breeding. As noted in the report, it was N. I. Vavilov who laid the foundations for scientific cooperation between Russia and Argentina, which continues today. In particular, the Rostov region actively cooperates with Argentina in the field of agriculture.

The second Ionin Readings became part of the People's Diplomacy Week organized by the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Argentina. This year's large-scale action is timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries. At the invitation of the representative office, Southern Federal University participates in the events of the Week from June 1-6, 2026. The SFedU delegation included Associate Professor Sabina Kerimova and teacher Valeria Makeeva.
