4 июня 2026 г.

On June 4, as part of the business program of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Inna Shevchenko, Rector of the Southern Federal University, took part in the panel discussion "The education system as the basis for sustainable economic growth", which is being held at the VEB.RF Congress Center.

The session was moderated by Andrei Fursenko, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation.

The discussion was attended by leading experts in the fields of education, economics, and technology: Alexander Auzan, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Lomonosov Moscow State University; Stanislav Bliznyuk, Chairman of the Management Board of T-Bank; Yulia Gorbunova, Rector of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology; Mikhail Kotyukov, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory; Dmitry Platygin, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, Vice Rector of the National Research University of Higher School of Economics Sergey Roshchin and others.

The key topic of discussion was how the education system can ensure the technological leadership of the country necessary for sovereignty and economic growth. The participants in the discussion note that economic growth correlates not with the number of years of study or the proportion of higher education diplomas, but with the real cognitive skills of the population — the ability to understand complex texts, analyze data and solve non-standard tasks. It is these skills that transform a nation's intellectual potential into productivity and technological sovereignty.

The focus is also on the issues of the rapid response of the education system to global challenges, the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, ensuring human self-realization and training personnel to quickly change qualifications in accordance with the demands of the labor market.
