On May 14, representatives of the University and the Taganrog IT community met with Alexey Kopytov, Minister of Digital Development, Information Technology and Communications of the Rostov Region, at the SFedU Institute of Computer Technology and Information Security.

The program of the visit included a tour of the university campus, an inspection of the UAS test site, as well as a round table discussion on the development of the IT industry in the current economic environment.

A special place on the agenda of the round table was occupied by the issue of the presence of regional IT companies in the implementation of the SFedU project to train specialists in the field of artificial intelligence within the framework of the national project "Data Economics and Digital Transformation of the state" and the support of the regional Government and the IT community of the SFedU application in the new competitive selection of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation for the training of advanced IT specialists in 2026 a year.

Within the framework of the round table, the Southern Federal University made a proposal to introduce amendments to the regional tax deduction for organizations making donations for the formation (replenishment) of endowment funds (FCC) to support scientific and educational institutions of the Rostov region.

The meeting with the minister helped strengthen the dialogue between the government, the university and the IT community and show the region's potential in the digital economy, as well as continue implementing measures to develop the IT sector and train qualified personnel.

Further discussion of the initiatives is scheduled for the June meeting of the Public Council under the Ministry of Digital Development, Information Technologies and Communications of the Rostov Region, which will be held in Taganrog at the site of the Institute of Computer Technology and Information Security of the Southern Federal University.
