The exhibition "At the origins of Rostov's well-being", dedicated to the Day of Local Self-Government, opened in the building of the City Duma of Rostov-on-Don.
The exhibition was prepared by students and teachers of the Institute of History and International Relations of the Southern Federal University. It is dedicated to the development of Rostov-on-Don city government in the second half of the 19th — early 20th century.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Alexander Scriabin, Deputy Chairman of the Rostov-on-Don City Duma of the eighth convocation Maxim Kolesnikov, Chairman of the Civic Chamber of the city Mikhail Chernyshev and deputies.
The exhibition is based on materials from the State Archive of the Rostov region and shows how the decisions of the City Duma and the City Council influenced the development of infrastructure, economy and daily life in old Rostov.
The project leader, Associate Professor Maria Bratolyubova, noted: "The exhibition allows us to see how history goes beyond the usual formats and begins to speak directly to the city."

Ekaterina Polunina and Ruslan Zharkikh, participants of the project, students of the SFedU Institute of History and International Relations, noted: "The most interesting part of the work was the discovery of specific and unexpected details. You can see how urban problems were discussed, almost as they are today, and you realize that this is not an abstract story, but the living life of the city."
The project was the result of joint research work and is aimed at popularizing historical knowledge.
