SFedU welcomed spring with songs and dances

25 марта 2026 г.

On March 21, the Navruz holiday was held at the Boiling Point of SFedU, dedicated to the arrival of spring and the renewal of life.

Navruz is one of the oldest holidays of the vernal equinox, symbolizing the renewal of nature and the beginning of the new year. Its history dates back more than three thousand years, and today it is celebrated by millions of people in Central Asia, the Middle East, Iran, Turkey and the Caucasus, serving as a symbol of peace, harmony and cultural diversity. Within the framework of the event, the leading engineer of the Department for Work with Foreign Students, Tuti Aliyeva, delivered a welcoming speech.

"I often notice that SFedU is becoming a meeting place for different cultures. Here, students have the opportunity to get acquainted with the traditions and customs of peoples from all over the world, which helps to broaden their horizons and instill respect for differences. Today, students were able to get to know the culture of the countries of Central Asia, Iran and Afghanistan better. The main purpose of the event is to create an atmosphere of celebration of Navruz, so that students feel at home and can share the peculiarities of their culture with others," said Tuti Harunovna.

The concert program included bright creative performances reflecting the richness of cultural traditions of different nations. Students' vocal and choreographic performances were presented on the stage: national songs were performed, as well as Azerbaijani, Iranian, Afghan, Tajik, Uzbek and Turkmen dances. Special attention was paid to the national peculiarities of Navruz celebrations in different countries, including the traditions of the festive table, the symbolism of abundance and the customs of meeting spring.

At the event, participants were able not only to get acquainted with the cultural diversity of the countries celebrating Navruz, but also to take part in an interactive quiz. The holiday ended with warm wishes of peace, prosperity and spring renewal, as well as an invitation to a festive table and a traditional international disco.

Holding such events, especially in the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia at the Southern Federal University, helps strengthen interethnic cooperation, create an atmosphere of respect for cultural traditions and develop the international student community.
