To compile the ranking of the "Top 100 best universities in Russia" in 2024, the editors and experts of Forbes Education magazine selected 547 universities. In comparison with 2022, when the ranking was last compiled, Southern Federal University rose from 54th to 31st place.
Universities were evaluated according to five parameters: the quality of networking, that is, the role of the university in developing a network of useful acquaintances among its students, the quality of teaching, the demand for graduates among large businesses, international recognition and the Forbes factor — how many graduates appeared on the Forbes lists.
Forbes rated the quality of teaching at SFedU at 7.57 points, international recognition – 3 points, reputation among the largest employers – 2.1 points, the quality of the networking book – 18.5 points.
SFedU turned out to be the only university in the Rostov region ranked in the Forbes TOP 100.
Lomonosov Moscow State University became the leader of the rating, the National Research University Higher School of Economics is on the second line, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology took the third place.
The Forbes editorial board noted that the Russian higher education system has undergone significant changes since the last university ranking was compiled in 2022.
Despite all the challenges, Russian higher education remains attractive to students from other countries. Contrary to fears, domestic universities are still represented in reputable international rankings.
New academic and scientific partnerships are gradually being formed with higher education institutions in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
