What could be more beautiful than the creative process — when an artist creates a new work of art with his own hand, putting part of his soul into it, sharing his thoughts and feelings with the world? Art galleries, museums, exhibitions open up a lot of opportunities for us to touch art, get acquainted with artists of the past and present. The modern world offers a new perspective on where you can be creative, what kind of thought to put into your work and how to convey it to people.

Street art makes it possible to go beyond art galleries and breathe life into the urban landscape, today on the walls of houses, sidewalks you can find unusual images of a variety of subjects. Street art is diverse in its manifestations — it is not only graffiti, but also installations, stickers, posters, images on various objects and much more.

Details, shadows, colors and lines are important for street art, street art does not assign territory, but calls for entering into a dialogue with the thought invested in the work.

In 2021, the project "Nothing Terrible" was created to support and develop street art in Rostov-on-Don, as well as research on the interaction of text and public space. Artists from all over the country took part in the project. Its main task is to create new points of attraction in the urban space, as well as educational and educational activities. Festivals, exhibitions, lectures, master classes, a street art school and excursions are held within the framework of "Nothing Terrible".

Marina Yablonskaya, a graduate of the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts of the Academy of Architecture and Arts of the Southern Federal University, took part in the project "Nothing terrible", creating a mosaic panel depicting the main attractions of Rostov-on-Don.

"The work had to be done within seven days. And since the amount of work was large, the organizers gave me the opportunity to make a mosaic panel in three months. I chose such a project so that every resident of Rostov could come and make a mosaic panel with me, it was not very complicated, and the process fascinated all participants. It was a very interesting experience, more than 50 people worked on the creation of our project, both adults and children," Marina Yablonskaya said.

To create the panel, Marina used a mirror so that the viewer, reflecting, could become part of the work. Initially, the work was supposed to be located on the street, but later it was moved and now it can be seen on Soborny 22, near the entrance to the Rostov Gallery.

Now Marina runs a mosaic workshop, where she is engaged in the production of art panels for a variety of interiors, swimming pools and hammams. Also, together with Tom Sawyer Fest, the artist took part in the restoration of the city fountain "Lyra" and is now searching for new objects for restoration.

By the way, one of the distinctive features of Rostov-on-Don is mosaic art, for example, paintings in underground passages depicting various historical, everyday subjects, landscapes and much more are made in this technique.

Street art can be different, thanks to the works of artists, the city finds its zest and becomes brighter!
