SFedU students took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo

The 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, which ended on August 8, became the most productive for Russia over the past 17 years. In total, our national team has 71 medals, 20 of which are gold. SFedU students are among the medalists of the Olympiad.

Larisa Korobeinikova, a graduate of SFedU Faculty of Law, won a bronze medal in Tokyo in the individual foil fencing and a gold medal in the team competition. In the fight for the third place, Larisa defeated the Italian fencer Alice Volpi. The intense match ended with a score of 15:14.

For Larisa Korobeynikova, this Olympic medal is not the first. In 2012, the girl took silver in London. The Don athlete has won the World Championship three times and the European Championship twice in the team championship.

Niyaz Ilyasov, a graduate of SFedU Academy of Physical Culture and Sports, won a bronze medal in judo in the weight category up to 100 kilograms. In a duel for bronze, Niyaz defeated Georgian rival Varlam Liparteliani. Niyaz is already a silver and bronze medalist at the World Championships. He also has two victories at the Grand Slam tournaments.

Yevgeny Lukantsov, a student of SFedU Academy of Physical Culture and Sports, took 12th place at the Olympics in rowing single kayaks at 200 meters. In the final of group "B" he took fourth place. This distance was presented for the last time in the Olympic program. In this regard, Yevgeny plans to change the profile in the kayak.

The Rostov Region was also represented at the Olympics by gymnast Nikita Nagorny, who won one gold and two bronze medals, Vlada Chigireva, who won gold in synchronized swimming, and others.
