SFedU proposed the production of fabric protecting against coronavirus

10.08.2020

Scientists of the Research Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry SFedU proposed a project to maintain physical health in the face of the pandemic at the 15th investment session of the CCI of the Rostov region, which was held on July 16 in the online format for the first time

Of the 11 projects announced, five were dedicated to maintaining physical and mental health in the face of the pandemic. First of all, the production of virus-protective systems that provide antiseptic treatment of any surface.

Scientists of the Research Institute of Physical and Organic Chemistry proposed a project to design a technology for processing technical fabrics and non-woven materials to give them antiviral, including anti-coronavirus properties. They suggest applying nanoscale particles of metallic copper to the surface or embedding them in the fabric structure, which will make it much more effective to fight the virus.

At the moment, according to Anatoly Ponomarenko, Deputy Director of the Research Institute for Innovation and Applied research, several laboratory samples have been prepared already.

“We now have several technologies for manufacturing such fabrics in the future,” said the scientist.

In addition, Anatoly Ponomarenko sent letters of cooperation to specialized enterprises that produce fabrics of this type.

According to the scientist, the fabrics of the new sample are necessary to resist the virus, since compared to existing ones they will not accumulate the virus on their surface, but kill it.

“The fabric will be sterile for the whole time. The suit made of this fabric can be washed and used again. And you can easily breathe in such clothes,” explained Anatoly.
