Inna Shevchenko, the Rector of SFedU, attended the Forum of Rectors of Russia and Iran

On July 7, the 5th Forum of university Rectors of the Russian Federation and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in the online mode.

The meeting was attended by Valery Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Mansur Golami, the Minister of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Levan Dzhagaryan, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazem Jalali, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation, Mehdi Sanai, Senior Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as Rectors of the Association of Universities of Russia and Iran, the Eurasian and Caspian Associations of Universities from 23 Russian and 16 Iranian universities.

The participants discussed opportunities for closer cooperation between universities within the Association, as well as the implementation of joint scientific and educational projects.

Valery Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, noted in his speech that the meeting confirms the mutual necessity for both countries to accomplish join objectives in the field of education and science. He especially emphasized that with the contribution of leading Russian universities the cooperation has been developing particularly effectively.

Inna Shevchenko, the Rector of SFedU, talked about the international cooperation of SFedU with foreign universities, as well as the collaboration of Southern Federal University with Iranian establishments of higher education.

Therefore, according to the Rector of SFedU, for the first time, the agreement of cooperation with Shahid Beheshti University was signed in 2017. Then the contractual relations were established with several more large scientific and educational centers of Iran. SFedU regularly enrolls students from Iran, and scientists from the two countries participate in joint research projects in various fields of science, including soil research, physics, materials science and computer science. It also should be noted that a number of joint research projects has been carried out on state-of-the-art scientific facilities.
