Great success of the SFedU team in the Erasmus+ grant competition!

23.06.2020

The SFedU students and professors have been selected by the Erasmus+ Selection Committee to take part in the exchange programme in one of the leading Spanish universities.

The grant competition was organized by Alianza 4 Universities (A4U), an association of four Spanish public universities: Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (213 position in the QS World university ranking 2021), Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (200 position in the QS World university ranking 2021), Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (311 position in the QS World university ranking 2021) and Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona (287 position in the QS World university ranking 2021).

Apart from students and professors of Southern Federal University, there were applicants from Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Higher School of Economics, Russian State University for the Humanities (RSUH), Moscow Power Engineering Institute, North-West Institute of Management branch of RANEPA (St. Petersburg) and Saint Petersburg State Polytechnic University.

Our students and academic staff have achieved outstanding results in the grant competition having assumed leading positions in the selection rankings. The participants passed a three-step selection process: firstly, they were nominated by Southern Federal University, then their applications were approved by the host universities, and afterwards their candidacies were approved by the Alianza 4 Universities Selection Committee.

Among 4 grants allocated for Russian students, 2 grants have been awarded to Bachelor students of SFedU Nikita Bogdanovich (Institute of History and International Relations) and Aleksandr Zaria (Faculty of Law).

Among 2 grants, allocated for Russian academic staff, 1 grant has been awarded to Alexey Kolomiytsev, the Candidate of Science, Head of the Department of Nanotechnology and Microsystem Engineering at the Institute of Nanotechnologies, Electronics and Equipment Engineering.

Special mention should be made to our PhD students Ivan Gorban (Smart Materials Research Institute), Natalia Grigorieva (Institute of Computer Technologies and Information Security), Varvara Shevtsova (Academy of Biology and Biotechnology). In view of the strong application documents submitted by the PhD students of SFedU, the Selection Committee of the Alianza 4 Universities made a decision to allocate 3 grants for PhD students instead of 2.

Southern Federal University congratulates the winners on their exceptional results and wishes they continued to strive for further accomplishments in the future!
