SFedU creates a neuro-technological platform to improve the quality of education

02.06.2020

Southern Federal University is developing an educational and diagnostic platform based on neurotechnology with the participation of the companies “Knowledge Laboratory” and “Modern Educational Concepts”. The platform will provide the creation and implementation of individual educational trajectories in training students and advanced training of specialists.

In November 2019, the project of Southern Federal University won the competition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation within the cooperation program between universities and enterprises to create high-tech industries. The project involves the organization of the production of a software package for managing human capital based on neurotechnology. The industrial partner is AST. Also, specialists from Modern Educational Concepts and Knowledge Laboratory, who have experience in creating individual educational trajectories and introducing neurotechnology in education, were involved. 190 million rubles were allocated for the launch of high-tech production. In April 2020, the active phase of the three-year project began.

The software package under developing will provide testing students and specialists to determine the level of their knowledge and competencies, organize training in accordance with the identified deficits, and evaluate its effectiveness. The integrated neuro-technological service Neuro Angel will help to conduct a more in-depth analysis of students’ cognitive abilities and adjust the educational process to the characteristics of each of them.

“The cooperation of SFedU scientific potential with leading experts in the field of education and neurotechnology will lead to the creation of a practical tool for managing human capital. Today, high-tech industries demand fundamentally new requirements for personnel. The system of higher and vocational education meets this challenge by organizing training within individual educational trajectories. Due to the latest information technologies and neurotechnology, it is possible to achieve better results at all stages of personnel development", said Inna Shevchenko, rector of Southern Federal University.

“We see great prospects in combining new educational and diagnostic methods with neurotechnology. This will provide creation of truly student-centered educational products and programs, which will significantly improve the quality of education and training of specialists. Can you imagine how the world of education will change? Today, when implementing training programs both in higher education and in the system of additional education, the initial level of knowledge and the goals of a particular student or specialist are often not taken into account. This makes training ineffective. The use of neurotechnology will allow each student or listener to build an educational route in such a way to make the training comfortable, interesting and convenient”, says Dmitry Guzhelya, founder of the company “Modern Educational Concepts”.

“The software package based on neurotechnology and artificial intelligence will reveal the abilities of each student and help him to fully realize his potential. For this, it is important to adapt the learning process to the characteristics and real needs of each student. This means choosing the speed and form of the material, offering courses based on the areas of the closest development of the student or specialist, helping him quickly and efficiently achieve educational and professional goals”, says Alexander Makarov, founder of Knowledge Laboratory.

This educational and diagnostic platform based on neurotechnology will provide creation of individual educational trajectories both in educational institutions and in the corporate sphere within the framework of personnel development programs.
