Program Overview:

The development of students' personal qualities and the formation of general scientific, socio-personal, instrumental and professional competencies that allow them to creatively master the training program, as well as apply the acquired knowledge in future practical activities as an employee of archives, museum complexes, libraries, the system of state authorities and management of the Russian Federation; an expert in organizations and departments, related to the historical past; a specialist in history in the media, as well as in academic and research organizations related to the study of history.

The mission of the educational program is to train scientific and pedagogical personnel in postgraduate studies in the specialty 5.6.2. Universal history corresponds to the mission of the Southern Federal University and consists in preserving and developing a scientific, educational and cultural environment that ensures the formation of citizens who are called to serve their country in the best possible way, as well as in preserving, accumulating and multiplying the moral, cultural and scientific values of society.

The postgraduate educational program determines the planned results of its development ; the results of scientific (research) activities, the results of mastering disciplines (modules), the results of practical training.

As a result of mastering the program, the graduate must have the following competencies:

- The ability to critically analyze and evaluate modern scientific achievements, generate new ideas in solving research and practical problems, including in interdisciplinary fields.

- The ability to design and carry out comprehensive research, including interdisciplinary, based on a holistic systematic scientific worldview using knowledge in the field of history and philosophy of science.

- Willingness to participate in the work of Russian and international research teams in solving scientific and scientific-educational tasks.

- Willingness to use modern methods and technologies of scientific communication in the state and foreign languages.

- Readiness to teach in the main educational programs of higher education.

- The ability to independently carry out research activities in the relevant professional field using modern research methods and information and communication technologies.

- The ability to apply modern information and communication technologies in the educational process.

- The ability to use basic knowledge in the field of computer science fundamentals and elements of natural science and mathematical knowledge in cognitive and professional activities.

- The ability to independently acquire and use new knowledge and skills in practice, including in new fields of knowledge not directly related to the field of activity, to expand and deepen one's scientific worldview.

- The ability to apply modern research methods and techniques.

- The ability to interdisciplinary interaction and the ability to cooperate with representatives of other fields of knowledge in solving research and applied problems.

- The ability to innovate; is able to set and solve promising research and applied tasks.

- The ability to analyze, synthesize and critically comprehend information based on complex scientific methods.

- Knowledge of modern methodological principles and methodological techniques of historical research.

- Proficiency in the practical use of knowledge of the basics of pedagogical activity in teaching historical disciplines in educational institutions of higher education.

- The ability to analyze and explain the political, socio-cultural, economic factors of historical development, as well as the role of the human factor and the civilizational component.

- The ability to apply modern information and communication technologies in the educational process.
