Program Overview:

The purpose of the postgraduate educational program with a focus of 5.5.1 History and Theory of Politics is the formation of competencies that provide graduates with the necessary amount of knowledge about the history of the formation of political science, about its conceptual foundations, revealing the nature, essential, structural, functional and procedural properties of political life; the process of organizing political power.

The development of this program opens up opportunities for work not only in educational institutions of higher education (as teachers of social sciences), but also in government and management bodies, offices of political parties, commercial and public organizations, in media editorial offices ; as employees engaged in information, organizational, managerial and other work in the political sphere. Thus, this program solves the task of preparing graduates as highly qualified political scientists and political analysts who are in demand in the labor market and motivated to professional research and teaching activities.

The postgraduate educational program determines the planned results of its development ; the results of scientific (research) activities, the results of mastering disciplines (modules), the results of practical training.

As a result of mastering the program in the scientific specialty 5.5 Political Science, the focus of the program 5.5.1 History and theory of politics, the graduate must have the following competencies:

- The ability to critically analyze and evaluate modern scientific achievements, generate new ideas in solving research and practical problems, including in interdisciplinary fields.

- The ability to design and carry out comprehensive research, including interdisciplinary, based on a holistic systematic scientific worldview using knowledge in the field of history and philosophy of science.

- Willingness to participate in the work of Russian and international

research teams in solving scientific and scientific-educational tasks.

- Willingness to use modern methods and technologies of scientific communication in the state and foreign languages.

- Readiness to teach in the main educational programs of higher education.

- The ability to understand the essence and significance of fundamental problems

of political theory, the main stages of the history of domestic and foreign political thought, the specifics of general and particular methods of political science, to develop general theoretical models of the political process in the country and abroad.

- The ability to understand the nature of the functions and resources of political power in all its forms and types; the ability to build general and particular models of the organization of political power and power relations.

- Willingness to use knowledge of modern power technologies, as well as political strategies and techniques in professional management activities.
