The uniqueness of the university consists in its location. The main part of SFedU faculties and institutes is located in the city of Rostov-on-Don - a beautiful and rich in traditions city, the largest industrial and cultural center on the banks of the picturesque River Don, the capital of the Don Territory. The technical faculties of SFedU are located in the city of Taganrog, which is located in the Taganrog Bay of the Azov Sea.

Rostov-on-Don is the regional center, and the Don Territory is a large Russian region, in which the Don Cossacks have lived for a long time. The Cossack region is famous for its distinctive culture. Its history is extremely interesting. The Don Territory is the birthplace of the great Russian writers A.P. Chekhov and M.A.Sholokhov.
