Program Overview

The program is aimed at mastering by graduates of secondary educational and professional institutions of various competencies related to the fields of Russian philology, the application of which is relevant for all levels of the modern communicative sphere: interpersonal, public, scientific, political, cultural, religious, pedagogical.

Comprehensive fundamental training in the field of Russian philology, interpersonal and intercultural communication, the history of world and domestic cultures with training in several foreign languages, modern methods of operating with texts, development of practical skills in expert evaluation, editing, proofreading and creation of different types of texts (printed and advertising products, scientific, business, literary, etc. texts), pedagogical activity. 

The study of the basics of national identity will allow the future graduate of the program to be culturally, historically and socially oriented in all types of professional activities - from a teacher to a manager, from an editor to a creative director, from a tour guide to a researcher, showing himself as an independent, initiative, striving for self-development personality, aware of his civic position and ready for social adaptation, quick and accurate analysis of the situation, search for non-standard and effective solutions. Fundamentality, universality, flexibility are at the heart of the competence approach of this educational program, which is the key to the demand for competencies obtained during its development in the modern labor market.

Program Benefits

  • The effectiveness of the educational process is ensured by the integration of theoretical and practical courses, distance courses, the organization of practical training under the guidance of leading specialists on the basis of educational institutions of various types;

The Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures is devoted to the study of the cultures, literatures, and languages of Russia and other Slavic peoples and lands. We approach our study and teaching of these cultures with an eye to their specificity and attention to their interaction with other cultures, in history and in the contemporary global context.

Our graduates have used their knowledge and skills in different ways: graduate school, Fulbright and other fellowships, journalism, publishing, law school, public health, government work, and politics.

Why pursue a Bachelor's degree in Russian Philology?

  • Continue their education at Master's degree.
  • Specialists in the field of Russian philology can work in the field of mass media, book publishing, journalism, on-line education (creative and technological activities: development and implementation of concepts and projects, creation of texts of various profiles and purposes, editing, preparation for publication, proofreading, communication with the audience).
  • Employment in the field of public and cultural relations (as a curator, speechwriter), in structures (official and public) related to the preservation, dissemination and development of the Russian language, up to the development of state policy in the field of modern Russian, in the field of cultural and social policy, including public and state organizations, museums, libraries, cultural centers, travel agencies, archives, i.e. institutions on which the preservation of historical memory and the development of the process of cultural self-identification depend in Russia today.
  • Employment in the field of additional and general education related to the teaching of the Russian language, literature and foreign languages (general education schools, lyceums and gymnasiums), etc.
