With a PhD in civil engineering, Ekaterina has dedicated her career to developing knowledge in the field of sustainable and smart materials development. Her main research interests are the optimization of bio- and hydro-coal production processes for sustainable waste recycling, carbon sequestration with various polymers, and the creation of smart materials with a fixed phase transition for thermoregulation of soils used in harsh climatic conditions.

Based on the methods of assessing the life cycle of materials, Ekaterina develops technologies for processing various types of waste capable of absorbing carbon dioxide in order to comply with the government's strategy to achieve carbon neutrality.
