International Faculty and Visiting Scholars

Applying for a visa

Incoming international staff and researchers generally require a business, work, or humanitarian visa for entry into Russia. A business or humanitarian visa is for visiting professors and staff attending conferences or events.
With a work visa you will be able to work as a researcher or take on a teaching position at the university.
Please note: A multiple entry visa is only available after at least one visit to Russia.
A visa can be obtained from the Russian Consulate in your home country. To apply for a visa you will need an official visa invitation from SFedU. Our International Support Team will be happy to advise you on the visa regulations and provide the invitation by e-mail or post. There are countries for which simplified procedures for issuing invitations apply (find a list of countries here). If your country of residence is not on the list, you may receive the invitation directly from the Rostov Region Department for Visas and Invitations.
To receive an official visa invitation, please submit the following documents to the Centre for International Programmes and Projects (patapenia@sfedu.ru) at least 2 months before the intended entry date and at least 1 months before the intended entry date if you arrive from a country for which the simplified procedures apply:
▪ Scanned copy of page 1 your passport/ID card
▪ Visa Application Form (filled in and signed)
