Rector Inna Shevchenko and the Rector's Plenipotentiary representative in the Ibero-American area Natalia Karpovskaya took part in the negotiations on the part of the SFedU. The Cuban delegation, headed by the Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba, Jose Ramon Saborido Loidi, included Maria Victoria Villavicencio Placencia, Director of the Department of International Relations, Barbara Elena Carell Fure, Leading Adviser on Cooperation with Russia, and Gustavo Cobreiro Suarez, Education and Science Attache of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation.

During the working meeting, issues of bilateral cooperation and the implementation of a joint international educational project on the opening of the Preparatory Faculty "SFedU-Cuba" in the Republic of Cuba at the sites of the University of Havana, the Central University "Marta Abreu" de Las Villas and the University of Guantanamo were discussed. At the moment, issues related to the regulatory support of the project are being resolved.

During the negotiations, the parties also agreed to open a joint international center focused on popularization of the Russian language and culture in Cuba, the creation of international research collaborations and the implementation of joint socio-cultural programs and scientific and educational projects. This initiative will contribute not only to the further development of fruitful cooperation between our countries, but also to the achievement of strategic guidelines of partners, including the implementation of the SFedU Development Program.

At the end of the negotiations, the Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Cuba invited the Rector of SFedU to take part in the XIII Congress on Higher Education "University 2022", which will be held in Havana in February 2022.
