The round table "Public Diplomacy in Asia" was held in SFedU

On October 29, a round table dedicated to public diplomacy in Asian countries was held at the Institute of History and International Relations of the Southern Federal University, where both students and young researchers from India, the Philippines and Indonesia acted as key speakers.

The round table was opened by a detailed report by Soumadeep Bidyanta, a graduate student of the University of Jawaharlal Nehru, on the role of the diaspora in India's foreign policy. Then Elizaveta Baranova, a student of Institute of History and International Relations, made a fascinating presentation about the formation of "soft power" institutions in South Korea. The topic of cultural diplomacy in international politics was continued by Master's student The International Institute of Interdisciplinary Education and Ibero-American Studies Arrahim with a report revealing the peculiarities of the use of national cuisine by various countries (Japan, Thailand, Indonesia) as an instrument of cultural influence.

The Korean idol industry was the subject of a presentation by Roselle Alzaga, a student at De La Salle University. Institute of History and International Relations student Maria Nevedrova, who has been researching this issue for several years, told about the international activities of Confucius Institutes. And finally, the final speech was the presentation of another Institute of History and International Relations student Alisher Safarov, who shared with the audience his vision of the role of the traditional hanbok costume in the cultural diplomacy of South Korea.

According to Alexander Marchukov, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign History and International Relations, such events contribute to the development of the research potential of the SFedU students and serve as a necessary platform for the development of scientific collaborations with foreign partners.
