On November 27, a new complex of cancer rapid diagnostics was presented at the Southern Federal University. The unique technology was developed as a part of the joint project of the Foundation for Advanced Research, the Southern Federal University and Rostov Research Oncology Institute.
The bio-hybrid sensor technology allows fast screening of socially significant diseases, such as lung cancer and tuberculosis at the early stages.
According to Fyodor Arsenyev, a project manager of the Foundation for Advanced Research, it is possible to diagnose oncological diseases at the early stages, and timely perform a surgical treatment. The examination procedure takes from two to five minutes.
- This most important project is based on the results of interdisciplinary fundamental research of world level in the field of mathematics, biochemistry, physics, biology. Nowadays, there are no analogues of this technology, - Inna Shevchenko, the SFedU interim rector, said.
In 2019, the technology will be tested in several regional programs in the Novgorod, Rostov and Krasnoyarsk regions.
