ArcheoSREDA Project

02.10.2017

A new research and educational project ArcheoSREDA started at Southern Federal University on September 27. At the first meeting the results of archaeological excavations at the Don region of 2016-2017 were discussed.

The guests of the first ArcheoSRED were professional archeologists. SFedU students and graduates of the Institute of History and International Relations, professionals and fans of archeology listened to the reports. In the hall of SFedU Museum of History, a temporary exposition was opened to demonstrate some findings from the monuments on which the reports were made. The importance of the new data is that a significant section of the early medieval necropolis was discovered on the Kobyakovskoe settlement, and the excavations on Stanislavsky Street affected the layers of the fortress of Dimitry of Rostovsky, and later strata, the artifacts of which make it possible to learn much new from the life of the old Rostov.

The goal of the ArcheoSREDA project is to create a site where professional archaeologists will present the most interesting results of their excavations to a wide academic and city audience.

The next meeting and the topic will become known in the near future: watch the news!
