Winter School "Text Archeology — 2: Diversity of Languages"

January 29 – February 4, with the support from the Oxford Russia Fund, SFedU held weekly interdisciplinary courses in humanities «Text Archeology – 2: Diversity of Languages», also called «the Winter School». The Winter School was hosted by Frunze Health Resort located in Sochi.
 
The Winter School was organized by the SFedU International Relations Office headed by Vladimir Zhukov and by the SFedU Centre for Individual Interdisciplinary Humanitarian Education headed by Andrey Korenevsky.
 
50 students of humanities disciplines representing 19 Russian universities were invited to the Winter School. The aim of the weekly courses was to study the notion of text in the present-day society and to discuss how text may be transformed into reality within the framework of mass media, advertising, cinema.
 
The Winter School can boast the brilliant list of lecturers which included such prominent scholars in the field of humanities as Mark Penson (Professor at Kingston University, London, expert in culture studies and the history of cinema), Igor Danilevsky (Doctor of History, Senior Researcher at the History Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Moscow, expert in the interpretation of medieval texts) and many others.
 
Anthony Smith, Chairman of the Oxford Russia Fund, was among the guests of the Winter School.
