January 31, a press conference on the SFedU sporting achievements in 2011 was held at the Interfax News Agency.
I.M. Uznarodov, SFedU Senior Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, and I.V. Naumov, Director of the SFedU Sports Club, presented a report on the SFedU sporting achievements in 2011 as well as on the sport competitions hosted by SFedU. SFedU students who are the award-winning participants of numerous national and international championships were also invited to the conference.
In 2011, SFedU students achieved impressive results in a broad range of sports, including badminton, cheerleading, taekwondo, rowing and canoeing, shooting, swimming, track and field, volleyball and beach volleyball, wrestling.
The list of award-winning SFedU students includes Andrey Moiseev (Olympic champion in modern pentathlon), Yulia Yefimova (silver medal winner in women’s 200m breaststroke at the World Aquatics Championships), Oleg Zhestkov (the World Cup in rowing and canoeing), Artem Korovko (European Beach Volleyball Championship) and many others.
