SFedU Students Became Winners of the Marine Robotics Competition

01.11.2018

The first stage of the National marine robotics competition "AQUAROBOTECH-2018" ended in Vladivostok. Teams of marine robotic center developers, law enforcement agencies and manufacturers became the participants of the competition.

Competitions were held in three main areas: remote-controlled unmanned underwater vehicles, autonomous unmanned underwater vehicles, and unmanned motor boats.

According to the results of the first stage, students of the Institute for Mathematics, Mechanics, and Computer Science Vladislav Hvorost, Igor Shpak, Vladimir Pereverzev and Georgy Konovalov became winners in the unmanned motor boats category. Moreover, the SFedU marine robot technically out-competed the leader of the competition.

The team of the Research Institute of Robot Engineering and Control presented the mini-boat "Sigul". The drone needed to moor to the pier, follow a given trajectory, make a speed maneuver and get to the target buoy. The SFedU mini-boat performed all these tasks with pinpoint accuracy, and received 96 points for a technical result - the best at these competitions.

By the way, the SFedU robots proved effective not only in the open sea, but in the air as well. In particular, one of the activities of the aircraft department is the creation of small-sized unmanned aerial multi-purpose vehicles.
