In 2018, the milestone 10th National University Sports Festival was held in the ancient city of cultural heritage, Kolomna. Skating center "Kolomna" became one of the festival venues, and brought together more than 700 students from 28 regions of Russia.

The Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, the all-Russian public organization “Russian Student Sports Union” with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Moscow Region, organized the festival.

The festival program included basketball competitions (men and women), weight lifting, table tennis, swimming, sambo, chess, speed skating, quiz passing, obstacle course and all-around.

Under the guidance of the coach of the Center for Physical Culture and Sports, Doctor of Philosophy, master of sports in swimming, Barabanova Victoria, SFedU swimming team took part in the festival as a part of the Rostov region team.

Athletes from 21 regions participated in swim competitions. As a result of the starting days, swimmers won three silver and two bronze medals. Two silver and one bronze medal was won by a first-year student of the Institute for Earth Sciences, international master of sports, multiple winner of national and international competitions, Krasyukova Christina . 2nd year student of the Institute for Sociology and Regional Studies, Master of Sports,Goncharov Grigory,  took two silver medals in individual championship and relay swimming. In the swimming relay race, SFedU team (Krasyukova Kristina, Sheludchenko Diana, Goncharov Grigory and Lizin Andrey) took the 2nd place.

For 10 years, the swimmers of the Southern Federal University have traditionally won prizes in the team and personal championship.

Swimmers took part not only in swimming competitions, but also in the all-around and speed skating, which became part of the program for the first time. The national swimming team successfully mastered this sport.
